OK, I Have Been So Ungrateful!!!

This morning I woke up knowing I had to put in my long run to train for the Ragnar Race in February. With Patrick completely out of commission, (aside from his dangerous, action-packed treks to the mailbox each day), Cash has literally become my full-time sidekick/running partner.

As much as I love Cash, I was being a bit of a brat this morning as I tried to get everything ready to go, like diapers, wipes, snacks, toys, pacifiers, and blankets. Patrick can always tell when I am frustrated, (I guess I don't hide it well), but I just really did not want to take Cash with me for the hundredth time. (I know I have so many people offer to take him for me while I run, but I am stubborn, and I hate to arrange for a babysitter because I'm spontaneous about the times that I decide to run).

Anyway, back to the point: Patrick threw out a comment that really stuck with me the whole dang run. "At least you are healthy enough to be able to go do anything you want." It was nothing profound, but my mind quickly realized how ungrateful I am. Really, how lucky am I that I have the health to do whatever I want? So who cares that Cash has to train with me? Besides, I get to run with the world's cutest training partner. Love you Cash!

Reason #500 to Stay in Utah

We think that's Noah and Lincoln trying to break the sound barrier.
And Uncle Greg providing assistance.

M. Ward and Zooey Deschanel

Natalie wanted to steal this post from my blog because she has run out of good material (and she wants everyone to be able to download the mp3 offered below). I initially rejected the idea of interbreeding our blogs, but then I thought, "Why not? She's your wife, dude. And no one visits your blog anyway, except you and your imaginary friends." So, here you go Nan:
Everything that M. Ward does is beautiful, so I don't expect his collaboration with actress/singer Zooey Deschanel to be any different, especially after hearing this song for the first time:

Why Do You Let Me Stay Here?.mp3

As evidenced by the album art, the duo have named themselves "She and Him." The album is set for release on March 18, 2008. If you've never listened to M. Ward, please repent and listen to Transistor Radio as soon as possible.

Noah and Lincoln, We Miss You!!!!!!!

Noah and Lincoln, loving life in Utah without their parents.

Cash in Arizona, missing the boys so much.

Cash, thinking of a way to get to Utah without Mom finding out.

Don't you miss me, Noah and Lincoln?

Noah and Lincoln have been in Utah for about 7 days, and I think they don't even remember us back home. Poor little Cash is so extremely lonely. I know the boys are having the time of their lives, I wonder if they even care to come back? I bet if I called and told them they could live there, they probably would just say, "thanks Mom, send us our Webkinz passwords." Hopefully it is just their age. My friend Courtney made me feel better today, telling me when she returned back from New York, her kids were almost disappointed by her return. Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying all of the free time I have, but I think sometimes as parents we just want are kids to yell out, "we miss you like crazy!!!"

We did have a quiet little celebration for Patrick's birthday. I made him his favorite lemon bundt cake. He has had that cake every single year since we have been married (maybe next year he will get wild and branch out with a new dessert?) He is pretty bored laying on his back all day. I am just really excited to see him slowly recover into a new man.

We love and miss all of you in Utah. Wendy and Ned you are saints for keeping them. Patrick got really homesick looking at all of the pictures of the boys playing in the snow. I had to think quickly on how to make him not miss the snow this time of year. (Remember how cold it is? And how sick you used to get?) It does make me sad for him that he has no family around, but he is an absolute trooper for living here and not being able to see his family.

Noah and Lincoln, we love you! Hopefully when you get back home, those Amazing Jake's certificates are still around (ha, ha, ha!)

What? It's My Birthday?!?!?!

Happy Birthday Babe! Knowing how much you love pictures, I've arranged for an all-day photoshoot of just you around the house tomorrow! Get some sleep, you'll need it!

Before Any Rumors Get Started . . .

Due to Natalie's lack of any official announcements concerning my back surgery, I just noticed that this blog refers only in vague terms to my recent "surgery." To set the record straight, my surgeon performed a lumbar discectomy. Contrary to some reports, I did not receive any "enhancements" or other cosmetic improvements. Although it is true that I am more attractive than before the surgery, my improved appearance is solely the result of losing some pesky water weight and changing the part in my hair from the right side back to the left side--a few millimeters from where I parted my hair in high school. I hope this ends the pernicious gossiping about my surgery.

Patrick's Blog Is Now Open to the Public

He seems to have overcome his fear of sexual predators. Here's the link (just be careful!):

Post-Surgery: Day 4

24 days until I can go back to work. 38 days until I start therapy. I won't lie: times are tough. Natalie is already sick of me, my skin is blistered from the scorching rays of high-definition TV, and my mind no longer projects reality, but rather, a vicadin-inspired vision of what life could have been if I had taken up the clavichord as a small boy in 18th-century Mexico. If I make a full recovery, I will owe it all to my favorite band for pumping me up every morning:

Fun Personality Test

Personalities are all so wonderful in their own way. And we know we need all of the beautiful colors in order to mix happily. Go to my friend Shannon Crandall's blog, (hope you don't mind Shannon!), and do the test. I want to know what color everyone is. Thanks again, Shannon.

Short Hair Is Back! Do I Dare?

I have always dreamed of being blonde. Patrick says, "dream on" I know, I was just kidding!
Everyone has got to try this website:

Loving your hair Liesal!

Reachel, you are to cute! Hope you don't mind I stole your fun picture.

Liesal, sporting an adorable bob.

I just love all of these great short hairdos! There are way too many pictures to post. I have so many cousins right now with adorable hair. Never grow your hair way long, because it is really hard to cut it all off. (Good thing for those fab hair extensions). What to do, what to do? I recently chopped off my cousin Melissa's hair, and she looks so great with short hair. Seeing her with short hair has me tempted to cut off my hair too. My sister Rachel is always saying I should cut my hair, and Patrick loves short hair, so I guess those are signs? (and it's fun when your husband thinks your hair looks good, right?)I remember my friend Courtney (Horne/Stabler) wanted to cut her hair back in junior high and her mom Dania said, "lets go see what it looks like, before you do it." So she used some type of photo-imaging program on the computer and pulled up a picture of what Courtney would look like with short hair. It was so cool to see how her face would fit with any style of cut. Until recently, I had never tried these websites that show what you would look like with all sorts of different hairstyles, but I have always wanted to see what I would look with different hairstyles, so I finally gave in. Here's one that's really cool:
