Marissa 2010

Mountain View High school

Marissa, all sorts of emotions will follow with you at this time. Be strong and always remember who you are. We love you to pieces. You will always be that little sis dancing around the pool not having a care in the world. Keep on smiling, and making everyone around you happy.

That's it folks. No more Madsens to graduate from Mountain View. It seems crazy to think my kids will be the next to enter High school. Now that's scary.

IRON MAN...

NOT!

That's OK.
I tried to be positive, to think Cash might sit through a movie that didn't involve trains.
He lasted a few sips of his drink, and a couple of hand fulls of popcorn, and he was good to go.
Arcade games was where's it was at for the next couple hours.
Glad I had my camera.
The funny thing was, I thought I can either get mad I'm missing the movie,(considering I see about two movies a year.) Or be humbled, and enjoy the darn moment alone with Cash. It was quite boring, let's get real, but he was in heaven, so it mad me happy. And who am I to think that my three year old would sit still for two hours.

Novogratz's

9 by design
Need I say more....

They are my absolute favorite designer, family out there. I'm sure everyone else loves their show and design books as much as I do. I can even get Patrick to sit down and watch their show. Wish she was my best friend, and could come design my empty home. That would be a dream.

There you have it....

Finally I'm cool..... I've always got made fun of for my constant big, high bun. Look, it's a big trend. You never know when you need to skip on over to ballet class. I love the easy look. So here are some fun tips to whip your hair into the Top Knot, and look incredibly chic.

How to get the High Bun Look:

TO START: Unless you’re going for a more polished, severe bun, apply volumizing spray or volumizing foam to your hair (focusing on the lower 1/3 of your hair). Pull your hair into a high ponytail with a soft elastic (always good if it’s the same color as your hair).

OPTION a: Separate the hair of your ponytail into two or three different sections. Each of those pieces then gets wrapped around the ponytail base. You’ll need to use bobby pins to hold the hair in place. (Reference: Jessica Alba’s high bun.)

OPTION b: Take the entire length of your ponytail and secure it in a ring around the base, using bobby pins. Use a clip-in synthetic hair piece. You may have to use a ponytail hair clip, if there is no bun available. Voila! This is something Ken Paves did often for Jennifer Lopez on the set of The Wedding Planner – so I guess it’s no secret that we’ve seen her sporting the high bun more than anyone else! Paves told Instyle about the hair face lift, “We’ve been loyal to the high ponytail or bun ever since. Pulling hair up and back from behind the ears makes you look years younger, and she loves it.”

OPTION c: The Frisky pointed out an ingenious idea to make a high bun like this, using a sock! Nina Carbone – you are one smart woman!

EXTRA CREDIT: You can use part of the hair for your bun to be braided. Or just use one long section to frame the bun ( a la Heidi Klum).

TIPS: Wear amazing drop earrings! Use some hair spray on the final style. Hair accessories like a headband can be used to amp the cuteness factor.

Should be at church enjoying church, but were not, and that's OK, because this little mans eye is yucky. So some one on one bonding.
It's just Cash, a roast, some potatoes, and I.
Happy Mothers Day to My incredible Mother-in-law and Mother.
My Mama is up in Utah awaiting the sweet arrival of Mia Waite. We can hardly wait!

Mom, I still can't get my roast and gravy to have as much flavor as you always get.. Today I tried allegro, no luck! What's the deal... You'll always have the best, flavorful Sunday meal..

little things to be remembered

Cash today unexpectedly walked up to my client, and had a brush full of color, and put it straight to her hair while I was curling it. Yes, I about had a heart attack. LUCKILY I was able to get it out of her fast without any crazy discoloration from where it was put. Ugh........ Sweet client just replied back,"Oh it's OK, he just watches his Mama do hair ever day and wanted to help.

These little buggers are smarter than their mom, bottom line. I think I'm officially booted from helping them with their homework. We sat giggling like school kids as they watched me mess up on their homework. We then yelled for Mr. Dad to come to the homework rescue.

Being a mom, constant humility. I think I've wrote that a time or two before on my blog.

Just a haircut

You'll love me someday for giving you haircuts, but for now I might just let your hair grow until I can french braid it, because those screams of yours are a bit piercing.
